Let’s talk about DELIGHT

What is delight?  And what does it mean to delight yourself in something? I ask this question because of Psalm 1:1-3 which says: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.  In all that he does, he prospers.” The dictionary (not mine, but another dictionary) says: to delight; to take immense pleasure; to be highly pleased; to find great satisfaction. So to delight oneself in something means to take pleasure in it. DELIGHTAnd not just any pleasure: immense pleasure.  To delight oneself in something means to be highly pleased by it and find great satisfaction in it. Now, let’s quickly apply these findings to Psalm 1:1-3.  “… but his immense pleasure, his great satisfaction, is in the law of the LORD…” This is a small post, and I haven’t really dug into these verses.  Perhaps I will sometime in the future, but tonight I was just thinking about delight.  So, my closing question for us (you and me) is this: are we delighting in the law of the Lord?  It’s a simple question, and following with the theme of delight, here is a song that I have come to love by Big Daddy Weave.  It’s called “Overwhelmed”. Have a blessed week! ~ Rosalie
