The Spring and the River

welcome to the page of the spring and the river The Spring and the River is a series (*cough cough* it’s more like *cough cough* a saga) of short stories about temptation and sin.  In this series, you will meet Lucy who is a young woman of the righteous Spring.   As she becomes more aware of the world around her, she feels called to try to restore Marianne, a woman from her own village, who has fallen prey to the malevolent River.  But Lucy’s task proves to be more difficult than she could have imagined.  Follow Lucy through the land of the Spring and the River.  If you step to close to the River, the next in instant you could be drowning in it.

The Bible talks very strongly about sin and temptation.  Temptation itself is not sin.  A person falls into sin when he/she gives into his/her temptation.  This series is supposed to serve as an encouragement and a warning.  An encouragement to those who have and are battling temptation – this is not your fight alone, God will give you the strength you need.  A warning to those who have fallen into habitual sin – your sin will ultimately destroy you.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.  God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

NOTE: There is no such thing as a perfect allegory.  Some might take dualism from this, but that is certainly not my intention.  I simply cannot write it as a perfect picture.
